Dry Skin, Causes & Care
Going along with the theme for the last few weeks, today I want to discuss dry skin. I personally deal with eczema and patches of dry skin from time to time, and have helped many find products that soothe and heal dry skin.
Causes and Side Effects
Dry skin can cause unsightly patches of flaking skin, irritations, peeling, itching, and more. The best place to start when dealing with dry skin is the way you hydrate your body. It is essential to your health and well-being to keep yourself well hydrated from the inside out. This means drinking water, and a decent amount of it. An easy rule to follow is the 8 x 8 rule, which suggests that you should drink at least eight 8 oz. glasses of water every day.
Moisturizing externally is also an important part of caring for dry skin. Applying a good quality lotion or moisturizer daily will help drastically. Consider using something like Kilted Suds Solid Lotion to avoid preservatives, perfumes, sulfates, and other toxins.
Best Soaps For Dry Skin
My go-to recommendations for dry skin almost always include something with shea butter, oatmeal, or calendula. If you have dry skin, it is usually best to avoid soaps with clays, or those containing essential oils/fragrances that can be irritating (think things like mint, eucalyptus, etc).
